Why use of pesticide is necessary?

Farmers produce food particularly fruit and vegetables at a reasonable price. As the consumption of food increases with the increase in population the farmers have adopted the modern way of agriculture to produce more food in order to fulfill the requirement of consumers. They use pesticides to control the pests that terrorize our food supply. There are different reasons for the use of pesticides in fields such as

• To protect crops from insect, unwanted weeds and fungal diseases.
• To avert from animals e.g. rats, mice, flies and other insects.
• To put off food being contaminated from insects and fungi while storage.

However, as pesticides are used to eliminate useless vermin, weeds and moulds, but they are harmful for human health, wildlife and atmosphere. This is why government must develop policies for the sale and use of pesticides. It is the responsibility of farmers to ensure that they are used safely and effectively because human health is more precious and important.
